Each day, we are reminded of how Elijah in the Bible was fed by ravens. Elijah had offended King Ahab by prophesying that there would be no rain for many years, and his imminent escape from the wrath of King Ahab was inevitable. With messengers searching for Elijah in the city and failing to find him, God guided Elijah to escape from King Ahab. Moving into the desert with no food to eat, God commanded the ravens to feed Elijah in the morning and evening.
As I analyzed the situation, it made me think about CRF. With CRF celebrating 50 years of sharing hope, I am reminded of the wonderful children who have benefited from CRF’s support. Imagine this: most of the children are total orphans, and many come from families living in poverty. Having meat and bread in the morning and evening, similar to Elijah’s story in the Bible, has not always been an easy path for them. In fact, many of the children sponsored by CRF have experienced horrible situations, having to go without food for days, if not weeks.
Linking CRF to Elijah’s story gives me a different perspective. CRF can be seen as the commanded raven, providing food and clothing to children living in poverty. CRF tirelessly takes care of children from different continents, going so far as to guarantee basic literacy and shelter for vulnerable families. CRF has truly become a big brother and parent to orphaned children.
When ECAN-CRF started ministering to children in Kenya, the support for children from poor backgrounds, especially those living in slums, has continued to increase day by day. From constructing schools to enable children to receive an education, to paying teachers and ensuring that kids have meals at school, CRF has proven its dedication to sharing hope. The CRF food program, which provides monthly food supplies to over 1800 children in Kenya, has transformed lives.
Thank you, CRF, for 50 years of sharing hope.
