Each day we are reminded of how Elijah in the bible was fed by ravens. Elijah having offended King Ahab by prophesying that there will be no rain for many years his imminent escape from the wrath of King Ahab was inevitable. With every messenger looking for Elijah in the city and failing to find him, God guided Elijah to escape from King Ahab. Moving into the desert with no food to eat God commanded the raven to feed Elijah in the morning and the evening.
As I was analyzing the whole situation, all this got me thinking about CRF. With CRF celebrating 50 years of sharing hope, I am reminded about the wonderful children that have had to go through the hands of CRF. Imagine this; with most of the children being total orphans and many coming from families living in poverty, having meat and bread in the morning and evening like Elijah’s story in the bible has not always been a smooth road. In fact for most of the children that CRF sponsor have at some point gone through horrible situations for having to go for days if not weeks without food.
Linking CRF to Elijah’s story gave me a different perspective of CRF being the commanded raven to feed and clothe the children living in poverty. Not tiring to take care of children from different continents to the extent of guaranteeing basic literacy and shelter to vulnerable families CRF has surely become a big brother and parents to the orphaned children
When ECAN-CRF started ministering for children in Kenya, the immense support for children’s poor background and especially those living in slums have continued to increase day in day out. From school construction to enable children to go to school, paying teachers, and ensuring that kids get to enjoy meals at school is proof enough of CRF doing the best it can to share hope. With the CRF food program that sees over 1800 children from Kenya walk home with monthly food supply, lives have surely been transformed.
Thank you, CRF for the 50 years of sharing hope.
